Important notice – Visa applications

If you hold a Swedish national passport, you do not require a visa to travel to Serbia and may stay in Serbia no more than 90 days within a 6 month period. You may travel to Serbia visa-free with your national ID card.
If you hold a national passport of Latvia, you may travel to Serbia without a visa for Serbia for 90 days within a 6 month period. You may travel to Serbia visa-free with your national ID card.

Your national passport should be valid for at least 90 days after the day you leave Serbia.
All holders of travel documents for foreigners or refugees require an entry visa for the Republic of Serbia. The information on how to apply for a visa as well as required documentation you need to present in support of your application, could be found below, at the bottom of this page.
Holders of Taiwanese passports have to apply for entrance permit (not visa) for Serbia. Requirements for issuing entrance permit are the same as for any Short stay C visa. Processing time is 3 working days.

If you do not hold Swedish passport or resident permit, please check here  whether you need a visa.

If you have national passport and valid UK, Schengen, US resident permit (visa) you can enter Serbia without applying for Serbian visa.
Visa free entry for holders of foreign passports with valid visas or resident permits - requirements
At the meeting of 30 October 2014, the Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Decision on visa free entry to the Republic of Serbia for holders of foreign passports having a valid Schengen, UK and other EU Member States' visa, or visa of the United States of America, and for holders of foreign passports having residence permit in the countries of the Schengen area, EU or the United States of America, which was published in the "Official Gazette of RS", No. 119 of 31 October 2014 and which entered into force on 8 November 2014.
If you hold a valid national passport and a valid Sweden residency permit or a UK visa permitting to return to Sweden, you may enter Serbia without a visa and stay for 90 days within a 6 month period. Please be advised that your stay should not exceed the dates stated in the residency permit/visa. Furthermore, please note that if you have a residency permit card, you should have it with you, as well as your passport, and present it upon request by the immigration authorities. Free entry is allowed only if you have valid passport with valid resident permit (Visa) inside valid passport or valid passport and the Resident permit card.
At the meeting of 8 October, 2018, the Government of the Republic of Serbia issued a Decision on termination of the validity of the Decision on the abolition of visas for entry into the Republic of Serbia for the nationals of the Islamic Republic of Iran, holders of ordinary passports. The Decision is published in the "Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia" No. 75/18 dated 9 October 2018 and entered into force on 17 October 2018. From that date on, visas will be required for citizens of IR Iran, holders of ordinary passports, for entry, transit and stay in the territory of the Republic of Serbia.
As of 9 March 2018, holders of ordinary passports of Georgia may enter Serbia without a visa and may stay in Serbia no longer than 30 days from the date of entry.
As of 15 February 2018 holders of all types of passports (Diplomatic, Official, Ordinary) of the following countries no longer need visas to enter Serbia and stay in Serbia for no more than 30 days in a period of one year from the date of their first entry into the country - Commonwealth of the Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Paraguay and Colombia.
As of 8 December 2017 holders of national passports of Guinea Bissau, and as of 28 December 2017 holders of national passports of Suriname do not require visas to enter Serbia for a stay not exceeding 30 days within a period of one year. If persons holding these passports intend to stay in Serbia more than 30 days or if they have already stayed 30 days in Serbia, they have  to apply for visas.
As of 8 September 2017 holders of diplomatic or official passports of Thailand and as of 17 January 2018 holders of diplomatic or official passports of Guatemala do not require a visa to enter Serbia for a stay not exceeding 90 days from the day of entry into Serbia.
As of 2 September 2017 holders of national passports of India and as of 14 October 2017 holders of national passports of Indonesia, do not require a visa to enter Serbia for a stay not exceeding 30 days within a period of one year.
As of 13 July 2017, holders of diplomatic and official passports of the Kyrgyz Republic may enter the Republic of Serbia without visa and stay in Serbia no longer than 90 days from the day of entry.
As of 15 January 2017, holders of national passports of the People's Republic of China may enter the Republic of Serbia without a visa for a stay not extending 30 days.
At the meeting of 18 June 2015, the Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Decision on visa-free entry to the Republic of Serbia for citizens of Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain, which was published in the "Official Gazette of RS", No. 54 of 22 June 2015 and which entered into force on 30 June 2015. The holders of national passports of those four countries may enter Serbia without a visa and stay for up to 90 days within a 6-month period.
In accordance with the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Lebanon, in force from 28 May 2016, the citizens of both countries, who are holders of diplomatic, special or official passports are eligible for a visa- free entry, transit and residence in the territory of the other country up to 90 days.

Applying for Visas

Visas can be requested by submitting an application to the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Stockholm. Please be advised that visa processing time is 30 days. Thus, we would appreciate if you could plan your forthcoming trip to Serbia accordingly.
If you live far from Stockholm or in Latvia, you could send your documents by post. 
In this case you have to keep in mind:

- Visa Fee (Postage Fee) is payable by Card or by Swish (1233231693)
- You have to send us Return Prepaid Envelope for returning back passports. - In order to obtain right information, in the letter please explain details of your planned visit, and inform us about the documents you are providing.

You may apply for one of the following visas:
1) Short Stay Visa (Visa C)
2) Long Stay Visa (Visa D)
Please be advised that as of 3 October 2018, we are no longer issuing B visas (Transit visas). If you plan to transit through Serbia and you do require a visa, you have to apply for a C visa. Please contact the Consular Section for additional information.

VISA C:


Short-stay visas are mainly issued for private visits, tourism, business as well as other travelling needs. You may apply for a single, double or for multiple entries into the Republic of Serbia.
The duration of an uninterrupted stay, and/or the total duration of successive visits of a foreigner with a short-stay visa must not exceed 90 days within a period of six months, which began on the day of the first entry.
VISA C REQUIREMENTS:
• Valid passport (passport must be valid at least 90 days from issue date of visa)
• Photo (Size 3,5 x 4,5 cm)
• Completed visa application form, HERE

• Invitation letter
o for a private visit - invitation letter certified by the relevant authority of the Republic of Serbia

o for a business visit - invitation from the company in Serbia stating nature of the business and expected duration of the visit, as well as a letter from the Swedish or Latvian company which you are representing.

• for a tourist visit - a proof of payment for the trip issued by a travel agency (voucher or other type of payment receipt); hotel booking (please be advised that we no longer accept online booking confirmations, you are obliged to provide us with a hotel booking on an official document -  letter and signed by management)

• Proof of stay in Sweden or Latvia - stay permit, visa (if you are not residing in your native country)
• Letter from Employer
• Return ticket or Itinerary (copy of International Driving Licence, Licence of vehicle registration and  Insurance if you travel by car)
• Proof of sufficient funds for staying in Serbia
• Health insurance

The Embassy reserves the right to request additional documentation.
Incomplete applications will not be taken into account.

VISA D:

If you intend to stay in Serbia for more than 90 days within a 6 month period, you must apply for a D visa (long stay visa). If you intend to apply for residence permit in Serbia, you should apply for D visa prior to your intended trip. Please contact the Consular Section for additional information on how to apply and to be advised on the purpose of your forthcoming stay in Serbia.

Visa processing times are at least 30 days.
You may apply for a visa no earlier than 3 months before your intended trip.
There is no priority service when applying for visas.
Your travel document / passport needs to be valid at least 90 days after the day you exit Serbia.
You should have at least 2 empty pages in your travel document / passport.
Applications are subject to decision by competent authorities in the Republic of Serbia and do not mean that visas will be granted. Furthermore, please be reminded that issued visas do not guarantee entry into Serbia. Entry is subject to additional approval by the Immigration Police.

More information

Visa fees payments are requested to be provided in the Swedish Kruna-s (SEK) in cash or by payment to the account of the Consular department of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia.
The costs of the money transfers (OUR), for the payment provided from the foreign countries, are to be covered by the sender / visa applicant. Amount to be payd is 558 SEK (plus money transfer bank costs).
