Issuance of a biometric passport

When applying for a new travel document - passport, it is necessary to apply in person, submitting the following documents at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Stockholm:

1. The biometric passport of the Republic of Serbia (that is not valid anymore or expires in 6 months; if the passport validity is more than 6 months, you need a special legal basis: damaged passport, change of the name, filled pages in a passport etc.) – additional fee is 54 SEK.

2. The proof of your legal stay in the Kingdom of Sweden (Swedish passport, Swedish ID card, foreign passport that allows work and residence in Sweden longer than 90 days, residence permit – uppehållstillstånd) or the confirmation from the Swedish Migration Agency ( Migrationsverket) that proofs your application for the extension of your residence permit.

4. The completed and signed statement that the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia can officially obtain the data necessary for the process – HERE

5. Consular fee is 670 SEK and it will be paid at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Stockholm during the application for a passport.

6. If you need to apply for the biometric passport of the Republic of Serbia for the first time, it is necessary to submit following documents:

-the original of Serbian Birth Certificate (issued on the form of the Republic of Serbia, in Serbian language) and

-the original proof of Serbian citizenship (not older than one year) – issued on the form of the Republic of Serbia, in Serbian language.

7. In the case of loss of the biometric passport of the Republic of Serbia, it is necessary to report the loss to the Police in the Kingdom of Sweden or to the police of the state where the passport was lost and you need to obtain and provide us the original Police Report as a proof of its loss. You need to fill in the form in order to initiate a procedure for the issuance of a new passport – HERE
Additional fee is 232 SEK.

8. The legal deadline for the issuance of the new biometric passport is 60 days from the day of the submission of request, except for a biometric passports issued by the Coordination Directorate for Kosovo and Metohija at the Serbian Ministry of Interior.

9. The same procedure is applied for issuing the biometric passport for the citizens of the Republic Serbia that have residence permit in the Kingdom of Norway, as well as in the Republics of Latvia, Finland, Island and Estonia.

 

For minors under 18 years of age - issuance of a biometric passport

In the case of applying for a new biometric passport for minor under the age of 18, it is necessary to submit the same documents as for the adults, plus some additional documents, with followed procedure:

1. The proof of parent´s and child’s legal stay in the Kingdom of Sweden (Swedish passport, Swedish ID card, foreign passport that allows work and residence in Sweden longer than 90 days, residence permit – uppehållstillstånd) or the confirmation from the Swedish Migration Agency ( Migrationsverket) that proofs your application for the extension of your residence permit.

2. When applying for passport for a minor child, it is necessary for both parents to be present at the Embassy. Both parents should present valid passports or ID cards of the Republic of Serbia or one parent that is the holder of Serbian citizenship.

3. The presence of only one parent is possible in the following cases:

-  With the written consent of the other parent

  • If the written consent of a parent has been done in Serbian language in Sweden, that consent should be certified by the apostille stamp of the Swedish Public Notary. If the consent is written in foreign language in Sweden, that written consent should be certified with apostille stamp of the Swedish Public Notary and then translated into Serbian language by the legal translator for the Serbian language.
  • If the consent has been made in the Republic of Serbia and written in Serbian language, that consent should be certified by a Serbian Public Notary.

- With the court decision that one of the parents has custody order for the child. That custody order should be issued by the Serbian Court or, in the case when the decision on custody has been made by the Swedish court, that court decision should be certified with an apostille and translated into Serbian language by the legal translator for Serbian language.
